Unhappy Rant: So does anyone actually group for dungeons?

I'm kinda new to the game, maybe three months solid gameplay, but theres something I don't quite understand. Does anyone actually group for dungeons? It just doesn't seem like something you should be soloing, and I have yet to find a PUG for anything but NM HoS. It seems like fun and I find it a shame that people would be more willing to pay someone to play for them.

People don't group much anymore. If you want to, you almost need to find a guild for that.

Due to the age of the game, most *but not all* people either h/h or use guild/alliance groups.

For the most part people will only run with guild/alliance groups. Its a shame, but its also the reality.

I stopped grouping for dungeons and missions because a lot of people (a lot, not all) are just not very team oriented. They may charge into a group all alone, when the team isn't ready. They may die once and rage at the group repeatedly then leave at an inconvenient time. Hope isn't lost though, get a friend or two to do a mission/dungeon with you and things become much more interesting. I vanquished half of Cantha in like two days with my old guild before they quit, and it was such a blast that I didn't realize how many areas we had blown through, especially since we had ventrilo. Really though, ventrilo+friends= endless fun.

As for people paying to get runs through them... Well, that's just life I suppose.

Eh...most people in guilds play H/H nowadays as well. The game is a single player game today.

yea, i dont groups either lining up for dungeons, cept for maybe Slavers Exile and even that is going away since people are finding out how to run it.

Like it was mentioned before i see people in guilds getting together to do dungeons, maybe they will pick up a PUG monk for HB or a perma sin, but there seems to be plenty of perma's nowadays.

Yeah that's pretty much it. Either you are forced to solo or you have to use a boring wiki build to farm areas in repetitive ways. It's not like anyone is still playing the game like it was intended.

It is quite sad but people seldom group for anything except the voltaic spear farm, and even that can take quite a while to assemble a group. (I don't quite understand why VS is so wonderful in the first place)

Anything as time consuming as dungeon running requires co-ordination and some measure of commitment, which unfortunately most players are unable to provide. Many will either 1.rage or 2.leeroy, 3.bring inappropriate skills or 4.go afk, causing a chain reaction of more leavers. People hence go solo to avoid the hassle.

Just a thought: I think a world-wide LFG system would make it easier to get a group going. I used to play this crappy Korean mmorpg that had a server-wide announcement system. You could pay a certain amount to make an announcement that would be seen by all players on the same server. Of course the community wasn't very big so spam wasn't much of an issue...this could be tweaked to make it so that you can only send a message every X minutes or something like that... I know thats never going to happen but its an idea

My heroes are better than most any player I could find in district. They take the skills I want them to, they attack what I want them to, I can even have them hang out and wait for me while I go to eat, work, sleep, whatever. Having 2 accounts means I can do this with 6 heroes and that's just awesome sauce.

Pugs fail, rage, over-agro, and just plain suck. Just say no to Pugs...

lol if a.net wanna see more grouping and pugging they will have to unnerf ursan since that was the only way people didn't got discriminated and welcomed to any group.

I would never go balanced again except with my guildies and ally members, since at least I know with whom I go in and I don't have rage quitters or the likes that would compromise the thing.
And its not like we don't take newer people into those area's but when you are guildies and know each better, you more secure your not wasting anybodies time into these time consuming area's if you wanna do em balanced.

Ursan was a safety net to cover for the less good players to see some parts of the leet end game. But the crying and whining won it so goodbye pugs for the better glory of saving the economy, which today still is as bad as when ursan was still alive

I've completed all dungeons once in HM and NM for the title, after that I'd only venture in again of a guildmate needed help. There's no incentive for me to do those dungeons again.

And I guess, with me, a lot of other people.

False, I don't want to drag this off topic so i'll keep it simple. Ursan groups where starting to discriminate, certain professions where picked over others due to the higher armor.

So the rit/mes/derv/sin/etc, the professions that are usually pushed aside where starting to once again...

Not to mention the no consets = GTFO

i just need to ask in guild/allience chat and i got a group
maybe not full but 3 or 4 heroes wont hurt that much.
but if you want to do the dungeons you should find a guild that is willing to help you.

you need a good guild and/or alliance to get people for dungeons, even for places like FoW and UW only certain builds are run now, the game is very old in comparison to other games, so people are leaving and the ones left mostly use heros and henchmen

The days of the PUG ended the day anet nerfed Ursan. There are certainly other reasons as well, but I don't think the importance of Anet's nerfs should be underplayed.

To remedy a vocal minority, Anet alienated a happy majority who enjoyed playing what Anet had originally designed. They claimed that people would find other groups with other builds. They didn't. They found other games, and I beleive this was one of the main reasons why.
